How do I match window case moulding from a house built in 1936. I can find nothing which matches online.?

The moulding is about three and five eighths high. How do I match window case moulding from a house built in 1936. I can find nothing which matches online.?
Many lumber companies make custom millwork. Take a piece of the old moulding to a couple of the oldest lumber companies in your area and ask them if they can duplicate it without grinding new knives for their moulding shaper machine. The real expense of matching old moulding is in grinding the shaper knives used to shape the ';new'; moulding. You might get lucky and find out that they have made this moulding before and have kept the knives.

Another option is to try to make the moulding yourself using a router table and the appropriate bits. If you don't have the equipment or skills, find a local craftsman/hobbiest who is a woodworker. You would be amazed at what a good woodworker can turn out with a router/router table and a little time.

Good luck with your search. How do I match window case moulding from a house built in 1936. I can find nothing which matches online.?
An experienced carpenter can duplicate it--it just depends on what it's worth to you to have this done.

Or, sometimes you can find trim from other homes in your city from the same era. Watch for salvage sales.
If you don't find anything online, you can just mix and match! A house doesn't always have to match.
Another source is to go to a local millwork supplier. They may have knives already made that they can produce your trim profile with.
