How long should it take to get a house built?

we signed papers in Jan 07, they broke ground in June, and we are just past the insulating phase. That seems like our builder is not doing their job to me. What do you thinkHow long should it take to get a house built?
i work on house that take 30 day and some that take 18 months all depend on the sq footage you need to give a few more detail about your home before you can get a good answerHow long should it take to get a house built?
just ask them for the truth. i'm currently building some homes that were promised last year. we had permitting issues, army corp. of engineering issues, site devlopment issues and a long cold and snowy winter that caused me 6 weeks of production. just because the market is slow it doesn't mean the home can be built faster. normally it takes 5 1/2 months to 6 months for a 2500 to 3000 sqft home to be built.
If my brother is building it, it would probably take 3 yrs, his wife is about to leave him.

We had huge modular house brought by a Semi, in two different parts. This house is built more solid than traditional stick homes, that have been affected by the aliments of the weather. Ours was done less than a month, but I didn't stay there long, because I missed the city, and mostly living in older homes with character. I hate new homes so much, it's like living in a cardboard box. The new carpet has formaldehyde in it, that's what dead bodies are embalmed with you know. This is detrimental to your health, and even causes depression, so make sure you get the some nice berber put down, not just what comes with the house. You will know it's bad, it has a weird smell to it.
