Essentially I want to do the plumbing fixtures, electrical fixtures, painting, trim work, sheetrock, install floors etc myself. The question is, how much would it cost to have the house framed, roofed, plumbing and electrical roughed in, a/c installed and the exterior bricked. The house would be 2000 sq ft.How much does it cost to have a 2500 sq ft house built but not finished?
Depending on where you live, you might be able to. Now a days, the building dept, county, state, and federal hogwash has stepped in on many building projects, they want to know who, what, where , when and how much, and who's financing this operation. Thank the democrats. I know that you can't do that anymore down here in Fla. You can't even be a handy man. But, you may be able to build it yourself, owner/builder, Get plans, get the permit, hire a framer, then a roofer, then a plumber and electrician, only trouble is, most licensed electricians will not do a partial job for fear they get blamed for you burning down the house when you finish it. Same goes for the plumber. Flooring, drywall, insulation ain't no picnic. I found the insulaters were cheaper to hire then the cost for me to buy the materials, then spend a week itching, they did my house in 4 hours. The bottom line, you might save money, but you might get old saving it. How much does it cost to have a 2500 sq ft house built but not finished?
You have to tell us where you intend on building it. You nee to now the State, County and Town or it is impossible to know.
The lot and plan are big factors to and should be included in the question too.
Building a 2000 sq feet on the side of a ledge in Laguna Beach will cost a lot more than 2000 feet on flat ground in the middle of Iowa.
It can vary from 35.00 to 300.00 a foot without that knowledge. Possibly a little less or a little more.
Id guess around $40 to $50 a sq foot
