Some of the Fluorescent bulbs do work in some of the outlets. I have noticed that one of the outside outlets does not work and it will only work with a incandescent light bulb. Is this some sort of wiring issue? Any help or information you can provide would be greatly appreciated.Bought a house built in 1982. I noticed that Fluorescent bulbs wont work in all the outlets?
It sounds like you have an intermittent voltage drop, which will prevent the Fluorescent from 'starting'. This is probably from a degraded connection, you may have to check every connection in those circuits. The most indicated place to check first is behind any fixture exposed to the elements. Now if you did like some in that era, used aluminum wire with copper connectors, you will need to check every connection in your house as a safety matter. There is/was a paste to be used at each aluminum/copper connection, may need to clean and repaste. At any rate, your switches have a lot of service on them, there would be the second place to check after the fixtures. Best of luck, and be safe!
